How can you help someone who is addicted to video games?

Do you know anyone who currently is? Are you?

To help them, you can:
- Maintain boundaries and communicate expectations.
- Help them set a goal of reducing their addictive behaviors.
- Offer to transport them to and participate in therapy or support groups.

...at least thats what google told me to say

It can just as serious as any other addiction for some people.
Any obsession can be an addiction. People have to have a strong sense of desire and to develop self control not to give in. The only person that can help you is you. No one can make you better but you. That's exactly what a therapist is going to tell you when you go into counseling and they'll try to teach you self control but you have to want to help yourself. You cant help someone who doesn't want to be helped.

I am not sure you can help anyone unless they want to be helped or changed. It's up to the person not everyone else. However if it's a minor child, you have control over what things are played in your home. If it's a spouse, then you can have a talk about how much time is dedicated to recreational hobbies, because that is all that it. Anyone else, they have to figure it out themselves.

There's nothing wrong with it.

Not gonna lie, I'm addicted but I feel like it's a good addiction, I still can do my daily chores and other thing like going to work every single day and see my family or just any other normal thing. I still love playing video game on my free time, but yes I'm still gonna say that I'm addicted. I'm sure there is lot of thing you can do to help someone with addiction, but Nebulous pretty much said the main thing that you can do. Try asking if he/she want to do some kind of outdoor activity with you or anything else i'd say.

O.K. I'm really old, I'll admit it. But back in 1981-82 I was hopelessly addicted to Pacman and that was the only game I've ever been addicted to. I used to play it in arcades and at home where I had an Atari set.
