What is the difference between addictive behavior, like gambling, and consuming an addictive substance, like nicotine (from tobacco)?

I would add that being addicted to high risk activities can result in a sudden, and often quite messy, exit from the land of the living.

I did some small gambling at the slot machines in Vegas. Between me and my girlfriend we blew over 100 dollars. We didn't win anything. We were walking by one old lady and she won over 30 thousand dollars sitting at the slot. I was so jealous lol.

I went to a casino a few weeks ago. Was proud of winning $140. I did put in $60 so I really only profited $80 which was cool with me! Paid for drinks and the gas there and back.
