If you are an admin, do you read PM's?

As a member, how do you feel about admin's reading your PM's? Should a private convo be PRIVATE?

I don't feel anyone has the right to read a private message other than the recipient.

I agree I don't read peoples private messages unless someone else has reported their message. Either than that it's 100% private.

Didn't know it's possible for an Admin to read other people's PMs, but I know reading their emails can be done. You shouldn't be really doing that... it defeats the purpose of it being a private message.

Its the opposite of that.

Anyway, I dont read PM's. Private means private. If someone is PM advertising and I get multiple reports, there is a button in the ACP to delete all of a certain member's sent PM's at once.

We have a PM Spy Mod installed, but it never gets used. I don't read members PMs just for the heck of it or the giggles. If something suspicious turns up, then I'll check the logs as proof or whatever have you, but I don't go snooping in there just for the sake of snooping.

Nope, Never, I find it really annoying when admins read over my PRIVATE messages.

Technically, admins have the right to do whatever they want which does include reading your pms. However, you have the right to click the red x in the corner and never come back. A community doesn't quite work when everyone clicks the red x and leaves so that's more then enough incentive to respect people and one way to do that is not turning pms into public messages.

I believe their PMs should be left alone unless they've seriously violated the rules and the staff needs proof before they are dealt with. Personally I don't get into that area as it's a sensitive subject.

But if you don't want the admin reading them, then they must not be adhering to the rules, if you think about it that way.

It's quite possible, if not by the admin panel, in most cases you can open up your database and find the table. The plugins and mods just make it a lot easier.
