For those of you who dont know what ajax is.. Its basically its something that loads automatically.. Your browser wont be refreshed and you wont be taken to a different page. Most commonly you will see this in chatboxes, quick replies, edits, etc..

A lot of different softwares are using this and/or mods can be installed so some features are ajax'ed.



I hear these take a toll on servers though and suck up a lot of resources.
 
Yes it does.. Which is why shotboxes/chat rooms are banned on a lot of shared hosts..

It doesnt bother me if a forum has ajax features or not.
 
I really don't like forums that have shoutboxes, because I feel that they take away from activity on the forum. I really don't like them.
 
This topic is not about shoutboxes. lol. I'll make one though.

Yeah AJAX uses lots of CPU. Softwares like myBB, vBulletin etc uses quite a lot of AJAX. I think phpBB3 is the only forum software that doesn't use AJAX

I like AJAX for a few things, but not for everything.
