Are the rigid school system part of the problem? And is home schooling justified?

It feels like home life and school is the only things kids ever have in their early lives.

This is a complex situation, but schools are a part of the problem only because of how shittily we handle our education in this country. Focusing on learning to pass a test is not and SHOULD not be the only way we teach children. Nor should we ban books or hide our history, our world history. We should be cultivating learning environments that breed curiosity and encourage critical thinking skills. This is not happening and there are so many other issues across the entire country impacting our current and future generations, especially when you have a government in effect which detests curiosity and critical thinking skills.
