It is looking like nobody within the Democrat party are going to challenge him in the primaries, so the only way he won't be their candidate is if he chooses to step aside. I am worried how he would fare given his lack of support even amongst the Democrat members. I still would much rather have someone like Sanders running. Although that isn't going to happen.

Short answer: because no Democrat worth their salt wants to commit political suicide challenging Biden in 2024.
Long answer: In American politics, Scarlet, the President of the United States is the titular head of whichever major party they're a member of. In this case, Biden sets the agenda for the Dems' and if he wants the nomination in 2024, the DNC will clear the field for him, whatever means are necessary.

As for Bernie Sanders? (a) He's had two cracks at the nomination and both sides Democratic primary voters rejected him and (b) he's technically not a Democrat; he caucuses with them in the Senate but he's well to the left of even the most progressive Dem' there. In addition, a lot of Democrats (myself included) didn't care for either him or his supporters (especially the Bernie Bros') trying to hijack the Democratic nomination in 2016 and 2020 without bothering to even be a Democrat.
