Have you ever been looking forward to a video game that ended up getting cancelled?

What was it and do you think there's a chance it could ever be brought back?

I can only think of the Xenosaga games though I'm not entirely sure on the whole circumstances. All I know is originally it was supposed to be six in total but they scrapped that for the three that came out. I seriously doubt they'll ever go back to that. Ship has sailed and sunk.

Edit: Just remembered from another thread. The Silent Hills game!

Half Life 2: Episode Three, I was so eagerly anticipating that game for the longest time. I don't think there is any chance of us getting it now. Although I am not so fussed about it now. It has been a while since I stopped thinking about the game. I was also disappointed when Star Wars 1313 got cancelled as that had been a game that I was quite curious about. The rest of the Shenmue titles, even though I still haven't finished 2 or started 3. I really enjoyed the first one, even though it is pretty bad. I will probably go back to the second one and finish it this year. Tekken X Streetfighter was another title I had been anticipating. Also agreed with Crys on the Silent Hills game,

I had no idea there was a Tekken x Streetfighter game in the works. Wow, I bet that would have been awesome. A shame, really.

Yeah, they had initially planned on two collaboration titles. They released Street Fighter x Tekken first which used the Street Fighter engine. But apparently sales were underwhelming so they cancelled the one which would use the Tekken engine. The one I actually was looking forward to. 😬😅😅

Yes. Blur 2. Seriously, fuck Activision for that.. I don't have any hopes of it being released after so long.. but I am hoping that some young member of Gen Z or Gen Alpha will end up digging through their Millenial sibling or their Gen X parents closet, and find it, become so obsessed with it and then make it go viral via cult following and then force them to either release it, or hand it over to someone who will.

Kind of like what LA Beast did with Crystal Pepsi.. the dude single-handedly got his following to get Crystal Pepsi re-released so that people who missed out the first time, (myself included) can try it for themselves.

It would be nice if game companies did that, it would breathe new life into old titles..

PS3 was a console generation I mostly skipped, so haven't heard of a lot of titles from it. Blur does look like it was an amazing game. As for Pepsi Crystal, I was so confused for a while trying to figure out what videogame that was. I thought it might have been related to the Pepsi Man game and was confused as to why you would be so happy about it getting a re-release. 😂😂

Pepsi man game? Damn you took me back.. was that Pepsi's response to 7ups Cool Spot game? My husband loved that one lol..

But no, I was talking about the 360 version.. I hope it is backwards compatible with the XBONE..

But yeah, this was the video I was talking about.. (just make sure you already ate first..)

I hadn't heard of the 7Up game. But I am pretty sure I remember reading about Pepsi Man in Electronic Gaming Monthly. If not them then one of the other gaming publications from the 90s.

Ah, that is one of my blindspots since I have always owned Sony consoles. With the exception of my Switch and when I was younger my Lynx. It does still look like a good game.

Haha that was not what I was imagining the video to be at all. I think it is usually the smell or taste that I have more issue with. But I used to look after my best friend when I was quite young. She would throw up while drunk. So throwing up doesn't really bother me so much. The warning is still appreciated though.

I understand.. the cool thing about the original first-gen Xboxes is that they could be modded to play games from the other consoles that came before them.. so I have an Xbox that plays just about every game from before it like PS, PS2 N64, SNES, NES, Sega, etc.. and I just found out recently that they are making new mods for it as well.. I say this because if you were to get one then you can play all the games that you missed out on back then..

Growing up my household we had just about all the consoles.. my Mom was a BEAST on the NES, especially with the Mario series and Tetris, my brother had the Genesis and the 32X I had both the Nomad and Game Gear, and from there we just got the consoles we wanted ourselves.. and the modded Xbox I have can play those to..

I have also learned that there are mods for the Game Cube and DreamCast as well as others consoles and handhelds..

Modding was also much more common back then as there was much less of a crackdown on piracy. I never had a modded console but I used to play roms a lot on my computer. I was even a moderator on a forum which had a massive library of rooms which could be downloaded. I mostly just stuck to their debate forum.

My mum was also keen on gaming. The first console we had was an Atari 7800 because she saw it cheap and remembered it from her childhood. Awesome to hear about your family experiences with consoles and gaming.
