Do you think they are fair? Too harsh? Not harsh enough?

Should kids be able to get a job at age 12 or 13? Work longer than 6 hours a day? etc, etc..

It's fair as long as you're not forced to work and you're willing to work abiding the laws and regulations put in place for child labor laws. Any workplace that breaks those laws can get into serious trouble, so it's not a big issue for my sister, who's in high school and works after school and/or on the weekends.

Yes, I think the labor laws are fair. Children are growing up way to fast these days. Let children be children for as long as they can. There is, however, nothing wrong (IMO) for a child to have a paper route or make money helping others by shoveling snow or mowing a lawn. These type of jobs help the child learn responsibility and give them a sense of doing something for others.I can only speak for the labor laws here in the US as different countries FORCE children to work very long hours for less than minium wage. Wal-Mart is a store I do not patronize as they have been found guilty of selling merchandise that was imported and made by child slave labor.

I think that children that young should be able to get a job. I suppose it all depends on where they are working though. I dont know if a child that young should be cooking food or operating heavy machinery but they could bus tables or bag groceries just fine. Teaches them responsibilty and the value of a dollar.

Children should be able to work, but not for that long as they have school, and activities, etc.

Agreed. But it would be nice to see kids focusing more on their education than work.
