Debate Statement

The bottom line is that circumcision is genital mutilation, and no one would allow a baby girl's genitals to be cut. Perhaps the only exemption to circumcision is for religious reasons, and every parent must do what they think is best. However, there is no medical basis for circumcision that is not anecdotal. Circumcision is genital mutilation and is considered horrific when it happens to girls and women. So, why would one condone it for infant boys?

oh boy... in fairness, there is no comparison between circumcision of a boy and that which happens to a girl.

I think that the debate can be had on male circumcision without trying to compare it to female genital mutilation.

This. There are legitimate reasons for why a boy would need to be circumcised and it would very possibly not affect his sex life. However, the kinds of genital mutilation performed on girls is very different than on a boy and it typically does affect their sex life and reproductive system.
