I like it, but it's been awhile since I had it.
Some people claim it is "gamey", and it can be, especially if you get an older buck during the rut. Otherwise, it is simply just a very lean red meat.

A friend of ours used to give us some after he went hunting, but I really had no idea how to cook it. So maybe that's the reason I never cared for it, since I'm sure it has to be made properly? It definitely had a strong gamey taste to it and was a little tough.
