Did you eat at school, or bring your own lunch?

We got it daily!
I could be wrong, but perhaps my public school did too. Like I said I was only in 'public school' till 4th grade. My special ed school was ran differently than a public school was.

I was always sent to school with a packed lunch my mum made for me. She fed me pretty well, too. She used to make me tuna pasta with diced peppers in; I always did look forward to my school lunch. :)
Yes, I was too for a long time till sometime in junior high then I started just eating at school. I am unsure if it was just because it was getting pricey, or a self choice.

Another example that we live in completely different worlds. Here, as far as schools are concerned, kids can drop dead and no one will bat an eye.

Probably due to less government funding. If they had more resources, they do more! (At least I hope)

 That sounds good!

Why we’re you is special education classes (if you don’t mind me asking)?

started out as just classes, then got transferred to a specialized school for students with learning issues, behavioral issues, etc. it got too much where they transferred me to a school that is better equipped to handle students with those problems. I never was told exactly why or anything. I think it's a very last resort thing, but it happened in 4th grade.

Somewhere your mom and mine, God rest their souls, must be chatting about school lunches 'cause mine used to do that when I was in school.

My parents are still with us :)

She made me scholl meals up for me, right up until I left High School :)

That's part of the reason. Government funds always find their way into the politician's and other government officials' pockets and tend not to reach their intended destination. Schools and children's needs are something our politicians don't concern themselves with until someone starts making a noise about it, but they quickly find a way to silence the noise maker(s). Basically, as far as the government is concerned, kids are irrelevant.

That brings me to another part of the reason, which is the general attitude toward the kids here. They are considered a burden, a useless parasites who leech off the society that is forced to feed them. People who haven't left the country yet are becoming more and more reluctant to have children.

I have, however, noticed that the better educated and higher in the social hierarchy a person is, the less children they have, if any, while the bottom scrapers with little to no education tend to spawn a small army of children which they can't afford to feed due to having low or no income, so they ask for donations via the media channels, usually newspapers. I can't help but wonder why did they do that to themselves and to their children. I mean, if you can't afford them, why have them in the first place? And why so many?

I would always eat lunch at school. Since my mom didn't make a lot of money, my siblings and I were always able to get reduced lunch. Some think that cafeteria food is gross, but I always found something that I liked!

Always brought my own packed lunch (usually sandwiches, a biscuit, and some random third thing!)

Never ate the school food, because I thought it looked disgusting.

for sure, specially get that if you're poor or just don't have a parent or so who makes a lot of money.

I sometimes ate the school lunches and sometimes brought my own. Can't tell you what I brought since I don't really remember.

I vaguely recall what I brought for sack lunches. I swore a snack cake/chips, PBJ sandwich... I dunno for sure.

I think I mainly ate at school since they had a variety sometimes and some days they would have pizza from a local pizza restaurant. I was never too big on bringing food from home.

Oh yeah, I heard rumor that my actual high school did that for pizza.

Pizza day had to be one of most students' favorite days of the week in terms of food.
Heck yes it was. The best day ever and it was usually Fridays.

Here the more children people pump out the more government assistance they recieve. Having another child is way to boost their "income"

I guess I was poorer than you, I used to get free (not reduced) :P

Never even tasted it? ...it probably was disgusting so you weren't missing out :P

Ours did that too. I later heard that the local restaurant they contracted with used lesser quality ingredients, I always wondered why it tasted better at the restaurant.

Friday pizza day is pretty much universal. I hear they still do that in schools.

That sucks that they had to screw over the students with lesser-quality ingredients, but I'm sure most kids liked pizza a lot more than other meals the school had to offer.

Ours may have been Friday too, but it's too far back to remember.

I mainly just ate school lunches. I didn't like the hassle of taking my own lunch because other kids would steal it.
