Do you believe everything happens for a reason?

Sometimes I do, but it's really hard to justify why some things happen such as mass shootings, war, etc. In the grand scheme of things, it kind of feels like everything happens for a reason to an extent, but it also seems like a lot of things shouldn't happen.
