The sad way of things these days, neighbors just aren't what they once wereOne side yeah, the other side I have literally never spoken to. I've tried waving and whatnot but they just don't want to communicate with us for some reason.
Whats going on with the bad side? One side, yes, the other side no

Typical HOA Karens. We had people over at one point, they parked their cars on the street, but it's one of those streets where there are houses on one side and a brick wall on the other, so they parked next to the wall, no blocking traffic, not in anyone's way, not obstructing driveways, perfectly clear and where lots of people park. We have a decent evening, but next thing we know we've got two police officers at our door asking about the cars and saying a complaint was made because they were on the road after 10pm (it was 10:30). No contact from our neighbors, no "hey could you please move the cars from the road?" just straight to calling the police. A few days later they didn't like that we hadn't trimmed a couple of bushes in our yard that were maybe slightly untidy, so we get a notice from the HOA with photographs taken from...? Yep, her garage. Fine, we will fix the bushes and we did. Then again a few weeks later, same thing, only this time she's got pictures of my sister's partner's kids in with the bushes, absolutely not ok, they're minors (well, one's 18 now, the other was 3 at the time). So my sister's partner calls her out on it the next time she sees her, she cowers and gets super defensive and then retreats. Nothing for a while. Then one night my sister was working on her truck, it got late, the truck usually stays in the garage and her daily driver goes on the driveway where the truck currently was, instead it was right on the street in front of our driveway. 10:30...guess who shows up? Police again. They're as sick of her as we are, said they're sorry they had to stop by again, it was a huge waste of everyone's time, and they went to talk to her. We've had few issues with them since then, but we always like to talk a little bit louder when we see them in their driveway, the odd comment about doing things right or we'll get the cops called on us again, things like that. My sister and her partner are still giving her evil eyes, lol.Whats going on with the bad side?
That's good, pretty much all you can ask for.True but at least they are decent neighbors, they are clean and quiet.
It's really hard to find non HOA properties these days. Most developments institute them to try and keep the development to a set image and cities encourage it because it helps cut down maintenance costs for things in the development by having the neighborhood pay for it.Aww hell naw!
When I was shopping for a house I explicitly seeked out houses that weren't part of an HOA. Fuck that, I'd rather live in an apartment again and NOT own a house if I had to live in an HOA. If this neighborhood ever implements one I am selling my house and going somewhere else.
A lot better than I used to.Do you mostly get along with your neighbors where you live or have you ever feuded with them?
Non-HOA's are pretty common around here (at least where I am locally). Usually apartment complexes / condos are HOA. As for houses, usually gated communities are HOA. Most regular neighborhoods with just plain ol' houses in them aren't HOA .....but.... sometimes they are! I made sure I had the "No HOA" filter turned on when I was browsing all the real estate websites. It's really hard to find non HOA properties these days.
