Skinned alive?
You're repeating something that went out when they stopped clubbing the seals.
You may be referring to a video from a couple of years ago that is still floating around that was made by somebody whose motives are a bit more disturbing than that even, and is being circulated by PETA and some others as proof of their claim. Yes the racoon-type animal in the video was skinned alive, and done so by a psychopath who was not part of the fur trade, but is instead, a criminal whose next victim may well be human.
The other video is even more questionable in origin is the about "foxes". When a couple of more reputable media outlets tried to track it back to the source, they didn't get very far before the leads started going in circles. It appears that instead of being skinned for the fur trade, they were skinned to make a video about animals being skinned alive to make the fur industry look bad.
And then you see another batch of posts about how cows are "skinned alive" for leather. Which is hogwash as well.
And, no. The last jacket I had with a 'fur collar' was fake, and not very good quality at that. And I can't afford even a faux fur coat for my wife. Let alone a real one.
Good question, I haven't seen it lately.
