A dog breeder in Spain was stunned when two puppies were born green.

Aida Vallelado Molina from Valladolid, "couldn't believe it," when two amongst a large litter emerged with bright green skin.

"I thought the puppies were dirty and tried to clean them, but the colour wouldn't come off," she said.

Both the green pups were smaller and weaker than their siblings and one, a female, died shortly after birth. The male remains weak and is beginning to lose his green hue.

Local vet Daniel Valverde commented: "There are no other recorded cases of this happening in Spanish scientific literature."

@Smooth: Not sure unless it's a substance called biliverdin, which can be found in the placenta.

I couldn't get your link to work, Jazzy, but looked up the word myself.
I guess I can see how complications in the dog's pregnancy may have caused this. It's also probably why the green pups were small and weak.
What a cool story. I have to go talk to one of the vets I used to work for about this. Dr. Witt would find it fascinating if he hasn't seen it already.

Sorry about the link. It's now working. Will be interesting to see what Dr. Witt thinks about this.

Awwhhh, ... puppies! You're supposed to get stronger when you turn green, ... that's what the Hulk does. :(
