Do you think dreams mean anything?

Would you pay attention to anything you dreamed? Or just brush it off an nonsense?

Apparently according to Freud, dreams have meaning's through latent content.

Umm... I don;t know whether I would take any notice of anything I dreamed or brush it off as nonsense :-/

But Freud was a perv

I doubt they have much meaning

I agree about Freud, but I do think that dreams can have meanings, just not always in the way Freud thought

Some dreams can. I mean the ones where you are naked at work probably don't have much meaning, but things where you see people that you haven't seen in a lomg time may have some hidden meaning behind them.

Standing naked at work might mean that you're feeling unprepared for a project you have or are about to begin.

In any case, lots of dreams have meanings, though not all of them do. It's mostly up to the dreamer to tell what that meaning is, as symbols are usually based on personal belief and experience, but a dream interpretor can usually help by listening to the dream, emotions associated with it, and giving an educated guess so the person will at least know what direction to look in.

Oh, and Freud was a nut.

Dreams are just a compilation of your thoughts and your subconscious. They don't predict the future and they dont really have any meaning other than expressing you how you feel in a different way.

I don't think they have meanings. When you're asleep it allow's your concious mind to let go and the subconsious to take over. Dreams are full of emotion and colour's since the subconsious isn't as developed as your consious. It's just a way for the brain to analize everything that it's learnt during the course of the day.

Of course they have a meaning. I once had a dream that I was taking a dump for HOURS. Lots of stuff happened during that: listened to some music, then pulled out the set of Harry Potter books and read them all. Then I was finally done. That, I believe, will one day come true.

Freud was a pervert?

Damn... I thought everybody was a cocaine addict that slept with their sister in law while their wife was in the same house.

Back on topic....

Some dreams do have meaning.... Some don't.

Just thinking about the topic brought this very vivid dream back to me... to where it seems like it was just the other night... not Eight Years ago.

it was The Snake Dream

....complete with a church, an ancient god, guns and all....

OK. So how many levels of meaning were operating in this one? How many ways can the symbolism be taken? Maybe it was nothing but a dream influenced by dinner.

[stand by for Dickens quote]

Marley: Why do you doubt your senses?

``Because,'' said Scrooge, ``a little thing affects them. A slight disorder of the stomach makes them cheats. You may be an undigested bit of beef, a blot of mustard, a crumb of cheese, a fragment of an underdone potato. There's more of gravy than of grave about you, whatever you are!''

They have small meaning as our brains are idle creating this visions.

In my head they have very small meaning, but some dreams have

been said to mean that someone is troubled or happy or something.
