Okay guys everyone is so into environmentalism more than the yester years.

I am thinking is it possible that Ecoterrorists like ELF and PETA might become like what the Taliban is now.

There are people in those particular orginizations that feel animals should have legal representation in court. (my dog can sue me because he doesn't like the brand of dog food I give him)

And there are people in those particular orginizations that feel animals should not be exploited in any way--no meat for food, no wool for clothing, no caviar (fish eggs) No milk, no dairy products--no nothing.

Very scary indeed.

Yeah, some of these activists go way overboard. Luckily they do not have any power and people just take them with a grain of salt.

But I sense that now when the world is beginning to get into environmentalism and all that stuff, and also the fall of the Taliban in the near future. These grain of salt activists might be able to influence people better now that people now get more exposure to environmentalism stuff.

I think basically we are not that into environmentalism some time ago. Thus we will not pretty much agree or understand why the PETA and ELF or even greenpeace throws butter at whalers or put nails into trees. However with the changing climate and more, people are getting more aware of what's going. And thus they are now easier to influence.

I have the BBC planet Earth documentary and they had the last 3 episodes where they interviewed scientists and environmentalists on the Earth's situation. In one section, they said that there are too much people for Earth to support. I can see that some extremists could get inspired by these words to kill people at expense of the environment.

Sounds crazy but there are crazy people out there.

There is a place in California (The San Joaquin Valley) that used to be a lush fertile valley. Now, it's a dust bowl. All because of the River Delta Smelt.

Farmers who used to export their produce to 3rd world countries are lining up to get free food at food pantries. People that have worked on farms for 30 years are being laid off and can't afford their utilities. All because some activists (who work for the Obama Administration) have decided that the pesticides and herbicides when mixed with the irrigation water prove a danger to a little fish not much bigger than an anchovie.

But it's true that pesticides and herbicides can trigger off disease in humans.

Exactly. What if these sardines were consumed by a bigger animal, say a bird, and say the bird was eaten by humans. Have you ever heard of DDT? If you haven't, read about it. It might give you a different opinion on some pesticides.

I have heard of it long ago. It made the bird's eggs thin and brittle.

But anyway back to the topic, I feel that we should stay vigilant against environmentalism and not just take in everything from the green guy throw at us. We have to see what's applicable.. or something.

I dunno how to say this.... But I think the powerful people on the right side should not just think that the PETA or ELF is going to be a grain of salt for long.

I'm all for it, nothing is going to happen if we just sit back and watch, the governments don't do anything, so it's up to dedicated citizens to put a stop to things like animal cruelty etc.

I'd personally risk my own life to change the lives of animals and help them live a better life in this world, free from cruelty.

And it's good to know others actually care out there also.

these people are in my opinion a bunch of airheads. how in god's name are we supposed to survivee if we aren't allowed to eat ANYTHING? just about every single thing that we eat comes from animals! animals are here so that we can eat them, not just look at them until we all starve to death. has anyone actually looked at the prices on all the vitamins that vegetarians need to eat to stay alive? if an animal wasn't supposed to be eaten, it would be just as smart as we are or else smarter. it's just complete and total baloney!

There's plenty of things you can eat which don't come from animals, you won't starve, there are millions of vegetarians and vegans, so they all starve to death do they?

Vegetarians don't need to take pills etc to get their vitamins etc, it's common sense, you can survive without eating animals.

Are you being serious about animals being smarter than us? That's a pathetic statement. What have humans ever done for this planet? Nothing, humans have done nothing but ruin it and destroy to eco-system. It would have been a better place if the human race was never created.

some of the stuff that we do to animals is cruel, like whaling and clubbing seals. we don't need to do that to survive. look at animals. if they are allowed to eat each other, than why can't we eat them?

Oh dear, people always say that, but you have to understand, it's in the animals nature to eat each other. Humans don't need to eat other animals to survive.

Animals were here before any human, the human race has caused so many problems in this world, it's not even funny. It's a shame we were ever created.

Obviously, it's in our nature as well, or we wouldn't be having this discussion. We don't have omnivore teeth for nothing.

I kind of agree that the world would be better off without humans on it, but neglecting our role at the top of the food chain is not the way to make up for our abuse of earth's resources.
