A venture capitalist who feels colossal California is too unwieldy to govern is proposing to split it into six separate states, and Secretary of State Debra Bowen has given him the green light to start collecting petition signatures.

I was born and lived a whole lot of years there. I left that state four years ago. I don't miss it at all. Maybe it'll happen, or maybe it wont. If it does, it'll be no surprise to me. Either way, it'll be no surprise to me. :P

What is there to be jealous of? Polluted, crime ridden, over populated and too expensive to live in, California?

...I'm jealous of people in other states who can live in a 4 bedroom house for $500 a month, can leave their doors unlocked without worrying and can breath in the air without having health problems later on in life. :P

the nightmare of our union.

Why is it?

1. Over taxed.
2. Over regulated.
3. Personal rights destroyed from what you can eat to personal defense.
4. Rule of law ignored by the government and over run with illegals and gangs.
5. Law after insane law of things like letting teenage boys go into locker rooms if they feel like a girl.
6. Bankrupt from untold amounts of welfare programs and useless green programs.
7. Businesses leaving the state faster then you can say illegal.
8. California Ranked the 49th out 50 in freedom.

Actually, most of the top businesses, especially in high-tech, movies, wine and even farming (central Valley) are here in California...
Also, California's economy is bigger than most countries and it is no longer in the red!
..and, of course, we are definitely free and accept all here, including teenage gay & transvestite boys and rednecks! :)

For know but they are leaving quite quickly for Texas, Florida, Arizona, North Carolina. And Canada for the movie industry.

Its big but its in a steep decline. Its not only way in red like most of its cities but its looking at the federal government for a bail out in the near future. Out of the red what a laugh!

49TH out 50 not so free.

----------------

L.A. by itself has 500 billion in long term debt. California is doomed!

----------------

And the farmers you speak of are being shoved into bankruptcy not because of a drought as much as the government cutting off there water supply to save a little minnow instead of feeding the people.

Well Canada is pretty much like the North Pole and a lot more "socialist" than Californa! :)
..and who really wants to live in Texas, Florida, Arizona or even North Carolina? :hello:
..and, of course, it is a debt-based system!

I didnt say I care what happens in Canada but they are much more friendly with the t.v. and movie industry. And I would give a slight edge to Canada for being less socialist.

Apparently a lot since Florida just over took New York as the third most populated state and Texas is number two. And the other states mentioned have substantial increases in population. Both have more freedom, no state income taxes and Florida is number 6 in the country with the best fiscal condition. Wanna guess where California is?

Actually and as far as I am concerned, the less people that live here in California the best it is for the rest of us who live here (less traffic, etc), so I sincerely hope that more people will leave, especially since we are going through extreme drought conditions right now... :)

Hang on while I carefully consider how concerned I am about this idea.

oh, gee, my beer is almost empty

still thinking

oh, gee, my beer is empty

I'll get back to you on that.

I don't think anyone is really concerned about it (including the 38 million people who reside in California).

Well I wouldn't mind living in Florida. Comic culture seems pretty good over there.

That doesn't mean a thing, Florida is many times bigger than New York. Instead, you should be looking at percentile population growth over multiple years. Judging by the map on page 3, Texas is indeed more popular than California, but Nevada seems to be the most popular state to live in. (See also the table on page 2.) This is of course the data from 2000-2010, so it's a little out of date, but it shouldn't be too bad. (In another six years you'll probably have the 2010-2020 data.)

So, basically, California definitely isn't the most popular state to live, but Michigan (and a bunch of others) were still worse last decade.

Florida is way too humid and muggy for my taste!
