Do you care about your e-rep?

(reputation you established for yourself in the forum world / how people think of you / what you are know for / how you are know for acting / etc)

In a way yes & no. Yes, I hope others think highly of me and do not view me as being a pests or something else, but at the same time, if I know I've been nice to others & have burnt no bridges, then I'll be satisfied, regardless of what they think.

Yes, I think I do.....

I think that what you stand for is important. A man's word is his bond sort of thing....something I was brought up with...

As long as people know me for me, that's all that is needed. If people start telling lies about me I'll care, if it's true I don't really care because it's true. I think I make sense here.

Yes. If it's someone I respect a lot then I would want them to think well of me. But still, they are internet people.

I think everyone cares about it as some just don't want to admit it.

If you really didn't care about it then you wouldn't care what anyone thought of you and your actions.

Would you hire a guy with a reputation for destroying forums that he got promoted to staff on?

Unless you want your forum destroyed then you would look at his rep and refuse to hire him because of it.

Just one example in which you would care about a person's reputation.

As after all, a reputation for doing bad things will affect you greatly in how your forums do and how people perceive you as a member or an application for a forum job.

There's no such thing..it's invented by teacup people from the Zathyus Network..

You can always change your username and IP address if you wanted to start off fresh.

On big boards half of the people don't even remember what the hell you did, so another day is another day.

I don't care about my online reputation cause it's well, online. Not a big deal if I say something offlandish . It'll be forgotten by most and people will move on with their lives like they ought to.

I don't even care if someone talked smack about me...if I know these things are untrue, why bother?

Just do what you were doing without worrying about some childish shit called ERep which the term was probably coined by a prepubescent trendslave popularitan.

Somehow people still manage to have fun without thriving on Erep and have a good time regardless. It's only important if you make it important.

Nice one.

I care, but not for the popularity factor. Just for people to know me for me, and not something I'm not. If people know me as a good debater, or a good forum friend, that is good enough for me =]

Yeah, same. It's like if someone doesn't like me. Why focus on the 1 forumer that doesn't like me, when I can focus on the others that do.

If I knew someone disliked me for a genuine reason, then it wouldnt bother me so much, as if someone had the total wrong impression of me.

I don't care about mine. LIfe is to short to stress about what others think of you (especially on the internet). Because they will think whatever they want to think even if it isnt true. I just be myself and if people like me then they do, if they dont then they dont.

Only to some degree. I try to uphold my level of reputation but not to the point that I'm stressing out over it.

Real life rep is far more important that virtual rep.

On the internet NO!, But i do care about my rep in the street's, person to person.. I was raised with respect, an all i mean i don't come on the internet trying to get a mad rep+ cause i don't really know you guys. As for social networks that i'm on i do care cause i mainly know everyone i am associated with on them. So i guess I'm stuck between then?

I am what I am in RL and on the internet and I can't change that. Either you like me or you don't. I can't please everyone but at least I repsect them and expect the same in return.
