I noticed this forum has a facebook page...

Do you think that having a facebook page for your forum helps anything or is it just something to do for the sake of doing it?

I personally don't believe it has a huge impact as far as promoting the website is concerned, but I don't see any harm in having a facebook page. It's still promotion, and it is a way to connect with users who use your forum as well as the social media site.

I always have a Facebook page to let people know of any issues that are happening etc. It may not help on the promotion side but it does help users know what is happening if the board is offline for any reason.

I've always found sites like Facebook and Twitter to be quite helpful with promotion.

I tried it once when I had a forum. Didn't go over very well. Only ended up with about 8 likes in the end.

I don't think it really does anything, but it can be fun to have one for any forum, as long as it stays around.
