Facebook rolls out Timeline

I don't like Facebook. Rumors have surfaced that Zuckerburg sells information to the government, and that even if you delete an account, or increase the privacy setting, all the data you had on it remains on the servers. Personally, i think adding a feature that will tell your life story, is very offensive...

I bet if Anonymous takes down Facebook as planned, there will be a lot of happy people!

I haven't yet heard anyone say they like the new features that have been added. Quite the contrary, as I've heard plenty of people bitching and moaning about them. Someone on another site posted that they requested their Facebook account be deleted and got an email back saying they do not delete Facebook accounts. Wonder how true that is.

The timeline isn't all that bad...just a different layout for the profile, unless you actually want to go through and add your life's events to it. Unless you do that, all it does is show what the normal profile shows, just in a different format.

Facebook has begun the global roll out of Timeline, the site’s new type of profile which allows users to tell the story of their life on a single page.



Timeline allows users a much more visually impactful profile and the ability to share the story of their whole lives.



Zuckerberg explained the thinking behind Timeline at the conference, saying: “Millions of people curate stories of their lives on Facebook every day and have no way to share them once they fall off your profile page...we have been working on ‘timeline’ all year…it’s the story of your life and completely new way to express yourself.



“It has three pieces: all your stories, your apps and a new way to express who you are.”



He said that wanted people to be able to share “their entire lives” on Facebook and have “total control” over how their content appeared online. Using his own profile to demonstrate the new timeline, Zuckerberg showed photos of himself as a baby which he has inserted into the new profile page which is organized by years.



The Facebook chief stated that he wanted people to “fill in the gaps” so that all users’ personal information was on their Facebook profile.
