@DrLeftover: I'm ready for Irene. Power outages are not going to affect me at all. I have filled my generator with gas and have two extra gas cans full if needed. The generator runs for 18 hours before needing a refill. I have stocked up on food and pet supplies as well. If it gets really bad, I have the basement apartment all cleaned and ready for use. It's supposed to hit here Sunday according to the latest weather report. We are expecting wind gusts over 65 MPH and at least 6 inches of rain before all is said and done. There is an elderly lady down the road from me who lives alone. She will stay with me to ride out this storm.

Jazzy... I thought they'd have you on stand by if not activated for it.

I'm off on Sunday but am now on stand by. I will have two other friends staying here with me as well as the elderly lady. If I get called out, at least there will be people here to look after my house and my animals. There's no doubt in my mind that I will get that dreaded call. My thoughts will also be with you and your loved ones. This waiting is just terrible. I wish it would just get here and get it over with.

Now, it may not even be a Hurricane at landfall, or if it is, barely a Cat 1.

It continues to weaken and is now turning northeast.

This storm event has been created and produced by Jerry Seinfeld, based on the work by William Shakespeare, 'Much Ado About Nothing'.

Here's my current forecast and it's been downgraded from yesterday:

Tonight: Rain likely, mainly after 5am. Partly cloudy, with a low around 64. Northeast wind between 3 and 6 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%. New rainfall amounts of less than a tenth of an inch possible.

Sunday: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. High near 65. Very windy, with a northeast wind 11 to 14 mph increasing to between 41 and 44 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible.

Sunday Night: Rain. The rain could be heavy at times. Low around 58. Very windy, with a north wind 41 to 44 mph decreasing to between 17 and 20 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 2 and 3 inches possible.

I do hope this means that the threat will pass without any problems.

It's such a shame though that your plans have been ruined regardless.

The only thing I'm worried about is the high winds even though they've been downgraded. At first the winds were supposed to gust over 65 MPH. I have a lot of power lines on the side of my property. My property is all woods and some of the trees are very close to the power lines. I just hope the trees don't fall down and take the lines with them. Even though I have a genertor, I'm sure it would take several days for the power company to fix downed lines.

As far as my plans being ruined, it all happened for a reason. I wouldn't have wanted to be in Phoenix while this storm was hitting my home town area. At least I'll be home and if needed, I can help out at the hospital. The hospital, as of this morning, has put all essential personnel on stand by alert.

I guess it depends where you're located on the east coast. I know that inland areas are not getting hit as hard as they first predicted. They have downgraded the storm that's hitting my area right now from 65 MPH winds to 45 MPH winds. The rainfall amount is still sitting at 6 - 8 inches as of this morning.
