I've thought about this a lot, and while religious is a big part of why people hate and are bigots, I think part of it is that these people are jealous. Jealous that gay people can be themselves, jealous that they can be happy and care-free. While this is not exclusive to America, it's a common American mentality that 'if I can't be happy, neither can you.'
Agreed. Religion is about controlling people's lives and taking away their rights and claiming "religious freedom" and arguing how their religion makes them morally superior when their actions show the complete opposite.I've thought about this a lot, and while religious is a big part of why people hate and are bigots, I think part of it is that these people are jealous. Good thing religion is optional. Religious people choose to be religious and willfully give up rights in the name of Jesus Christ, amen.Religion is about controlling people's lives and taking away their rights

As an aside, Serafin's got a point there, @MrDawn; just read (a) The Black Book of Communism and (b) Foxe's Book of Martyrs' and then repeat what you said earlier.Atheism has by far killed and not even close killed more people and kept them under tyranny. It’s not even close between the two.
