I think you need to do a lot of work if you want the forum side to succeed. There's a lot of sections that are completely empty; they're just taking up unnecessary space right now. There's also an overload of subforums in many sections. You have three sections for gaming, and each one has five subforums...each and every one empty, devoid of any life whatsoever. At this point, you really don't need to overcategorize things.



However, the biggest turn-off in my opinion is your theme, which suffers from a typical Myspace girl problem. Allow me to demonstrate.

Now, the Myspace girl problem is quite simple. You seem to feel that flashy = good, but it is in fact quite the opposite. The background obscures part of the post. It's not overly visible in this image, but if someone were to post something larger, a good portion of their text would be almost unreadable due to the default text colour being white, and overlapping with the very bright background aspects. It's gaudy, and something I'd expect from a teen on a social network, not a pseudo-professional website.
