What do you like better?

A general chat forum or a forum based around a single topic / interest ?

For me it's GC because I have no one single interest that stands out as more interesting to me over anything else so it fits who I am imo.

I say general chat as normally the forum is laid back and easy to post at

For me, it really depends. I like general chat forums because of their leniency but it's more for just fun rather than really discussing.

I don't mind strict rules being enforced, on say, the UbuntuForums or MTGSalvation because the point is to discuss their particular topic, and they both execute that very well.

You didn't capitalize chat. BANNED FOR 1 YEAR!

Agreed. General. I don't have any specific interests more than others, so general is the way to go.

I like general chat because I like being able to talk about anything I want.

I view it as this. If you like a niche oriented topic and a forum can pull it off really well then that's better than a GC forum but if you want a little taste of everything then a GC forum is for you.

Depends. I'd usually go General Chat now because I have a diverse range of interests. I used to love card games (such as Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh) so I would have preferred a niche targeted forum. Now though, I just don't visit many of those forums. There is the occasional drummer forum though.

The only niche targeted forums Ive ever been active on was parenting and photography forums ..

But I only go on those forums when I am in the mood to talk about those subjects. So I may only be active a couple days a month sometimes. A general chat forum I can be active on everyday.

I couldn't care, a forum is a forum if it has good content that I like and would love to post a reply too, ill register and what not.

If im looking for a certain niche forum then id join that over a general forum though.
