So yes, one of my friends' got an addiction to fast-food. I view it as a bad thing. Why is it in "debate"? Because my question is: can we really get an addiction to fast-food or it's only in our mind?

All we are is "only in our mind". I'd say it's perfectly reasonable to expect people to be able to become addicted to anything.

I think people can be addicted to it if that's all they eat for a long period of time. Especially those who have limited cooking time / options. Like a college student living in a dorm with no oven for example.

Well said and I totally agree.

But the addiction is "only in our head". As we can get rid of it if we stopped thinking about it.

Medical Definition of ADDICTION

: compulsive physiological need for and use of a habit-forming substance (as heroin, nicotine, or alcohol) characterized by tolerance and by well-defined physiological symptoms upon withdrawal; broadly : persistent compulsive use of a substance known by the user to be physically, psychologically, or socially harmful.

Depending on the person's dependency on whatever they are addicted to, it's not that easy as to just stop "thinking about it" as you put it.

Have you ever tried to clear your mind and think of nothing?

I use to eat fast food many times a week, was overweight, i've now stopped eating that stuff, I have it maybe once or twice a month. I've been walking a lot and eating healthier, lost 35 pounds. :)

Fast food can be addicting, I was addicted to it.

Yeah, being overweight can be caused by eating too much fast-foods.

I try not to eat fast food as much.

I like a lot of fresh veggies and fruits more than anything.

I probably drink sody maybe once a month and eat fast food maybe once every 3 weeks or so.
