Who should help the homeless? Do they need help? Is it their fault they are in that situation or should someone come to their aid in their time of need.

Who should help the homeless?

I think that each town/city should help their homeless population. We as individuals can help as well buy donating food to the food banks, donating our used clothing and toys. There should be safe shelters and soup kitchens. Every little bit helps but many people don't bother and treat the homeless as subhuman.

Do they need help?

You can't help people who don't want to be helped. You can help, however, the ones who ask for help. I can't even imagine what it must be like not to have shelter, food, clothes and people who don't care about me.

Is it their fault they are in that situation?

Complex question. Some of the homeless are mentally ill, drug addicts, runways and ex-cons (to name a few). Some are just people who have fallen on hard times and have no family or place to go.

Basically what Jazzy said. If there are government programs to help, I would much rather those be in the area of self-improvement and getting these people a job rather than blank welfare checks.

I have unfortunately been put Into a situation where I have become very aware of the homeless In the UK.

Without going Into details, I now know there Is much help out there by organisations and the government to ensure that no-one has to sleep rough.

I have learnt that those that do, do so by their own choosing.

If people expect the USA to help poor countries all over the world and to help the countries that have the unfortunate luck of having a natural disaster hit, then helping our own people would be a given, no matter what their situation is or was...
