What do you think about gay and lesbian teachers?

One of the teachers at my old school was a lesbian and when some of the parents found out, they moved their kids to other schools.

You know what the issue with homosexuality is? The fact that it's an issue. It should not be an issue AT ALL.

Depends what kind of school it is, if it's some hardcore fanatically Catholic all girls' school then you've got another think coming. But as Setsuna said, homosexuality, it's something I've almost given up discussing. There is no issue. There is nothing to argue over anymore. It's the parents' own choice, but I don't think that kids should be brought up thinking that homosexuality is a bad thing.

Sexuality has nothing to do with teaching, therefore, as long as it remains to him/herself, it will be of no one's concern. However, if made known, it could become an issue, but it should not impair their teaching or the student's learning.

Homosexuality has nothing to do with ones profession! Regardless of whether its a man teaching all boys! Its his business! What he does in his own home is non of any parents concern! Personally i think grown people acting silly like this are stupid!

Stop teaching our kids to hate! i mean yeah, don't sit and tell them that Homosexuality is okay, but they should know what could happen if you choose to continue with the lifestyle...

Once again its not a choice!

Well put. There's a difference between being gay and working at an all boys school and being a registered / known sex offender / pedophile and working at an all boys school. MOST homosexual males / females know better than to go chasing after jail bate if they're above the legal age of wherever they're from.

I've actually never heard of this being an issue, that is homosexual teachers, but I wouldn't doubt it if it were.

My argument to that though is this:

A heterosexual male/female is just as likely to go after a student. Homosexuality isn't the problem. The problem lies with the individual. And there's no way of really knowing if or when or where it's going to happen. It's just one of those things. Some people are just sick and go after little kids because they can't defend themselves.

homosexuality should not be this much of an issue, especially with people who are supposed to have matured enough to have children. I could understand this from children who don't understand, but parents should be better than that.

I don't see any probelm with it. Actually I kind of had this wierd idea once If I had gotten a Gay guy teacher.

I don't know If I ever had a teacher that was gay, although my friend thought our gym teacher at the time was gay. But he didn't seem like the type to like guys instead, but I don't know maybe he does like men instead of girls. ALthough I might never know since I have been out of highschool for like two years now.

My brother has a teacher in his school that is probabally gay becuase he acts like one and is a total flamboyant girly man. And I saw him once and he looked like it.

Agreed.

Well if people find homosexuals immoral due to their belief's / religion then its understandable for them not to want their kids being taught by a homosexual. Teachers are role models and maybe some parents wish for their their children not to have that sort of role model.

Personally, I wouldnt care, if they are a good teacher and kept their personal business to themselves then its ok.

Straight people (anyone) can set a bad an example. Some of my teachers in high school were huge pot heads.

Completely, 100% agree with this comment.

There's nothing wrong with homosexuality, and it will affect a job just as much as a straight person.
