How tight are you with family?

How tight are you with your family? How about siblings and their children?

We used to be really tight with everyone, but then we moved away for my husband's job and now everyone is really distant. Their political views make them really toxic and have said some harsh things that shouldn't have been said just because we voted the way we did. So now we don't want to even contact them. I wish that we lived closer like we used to because I think that they wouldn't have felt so bold to be so hurtful with their words.

That's too bad!

It's a fact and a real shame that political discussions can cause serious rifts between friends, children (grown) , and other family.
For that very reason I refuse to even "touch" on politics (& sometimes that's pretty tough to do) with some of the children.
