I dont like being in charge of forums. I like being a member. How do you feel?

Running a forum isnt so bad.

Just as long as you arent running an advertising forum with hundreds of visitors every single day. Then it starts to get a little stressful.

I like running a forum. In the past it's more or less of finding a good host and niche that was hard for me. Thankfully, I am at a decent host now, and we are going somewhere, and I have some updates in mind that I want to put into place.

I concur. An advertising forum is the absolute worst to run.....

Any forum is the worst to run. I hate when people are arguing or having problems and Im supposed to come in and wave my magic wand and make it all better.

Well, you can expect problems with any genere of forum, like you said. I just take it all in stride, deal with the problems that need to be dealt with, and then simply move on. It's all part of running a forum, and heck, someone has to do it.

Someone else can.

*raises hand*

I'll do it. I dont mind being a mediator when problems arise or sending out a reminder of the rules once in a while.

You'd be amazed how far just talking to someone like a real person goes. Some are quick to send out threats and warnings, but I find that that just fuels the fire and causes more drama and outbursts of rule beakers on the forums.

Of course there is those select few who will be rule breakers no matter what. Thats when you have to ban or place someone on moderator queue.

I understand that being an administrator of a forum isnt for everyone its great that some people realize that early on instead of making forum after forum that they are going to keep closing when it gets too stressful.

I've ran my forum for coming up to 7 years. And its been a struggle to keep it going sometimes.. However I love it. But I can only be admin of that. Having another forum of my own is just to much work.

Wow! What forum is that?

I like being in charge and being the main decision maker, IMO it's one of the best things about administrating a forum.

Fair enough though if you'd rather be a member.

Yes I also love being in charge. I hate not being in charge. Most forums have too many silly rules. I like being in charge. Never worry about being banned or demoted. And they almost never let you mention your own site or add links to your site. Advertising site is the only way to go. I run one and it is great. I love it. Just got to find better hosting. I tried installing phpbb and converting the db but it said high load. I need one that is better equipped for that. SMF is ok but lacks good themes.

That's probably my favorite thing about running a forum as well, is that you can't worry about being banned, fired, etc. I love it and I wouldn't back down unless I had to.

HeadBanger's Haven. I think that's what it is called.

Man I love being in charge. Granted at times I have to confer with the actual head admin. But for the most part. He considers me his Lead Admin of the forum version of his website. So I am pretty much in charge. And I just absolutely love running it.
