Would you be welcoming and accepting of them, or would you tell them to go back to their own planet?

(assuming the aliens are not violent or evil)

I'd say something like: gimme some tech and you're welcome.

I did an article on that subject in 2002

We'll sit there in abject disbelief. Staring at the TV.

Like we did on September 11, 2001.

Rush Limbaugh will deny it. Like he did when he kept saying Hillary wouldn't run for the Senate, even after she was actively campaigning.

Some will call it a publicity stunt, or a hoax, or a fraud. Others will say it is a plot.

Many will pack into churches because they think it is the Sign of the End.

Others will pack into liquor stores for basically the same reason.

The military will panic.

So will the Emergency Services People.

The Desk... the Desk will probably sit back and say something like...

It's About the Blinking Time.

And one about those who are sure they have already been here (and no... this isn't about the tinfoil hat crop circle crowd)

Absence of Proof is Not Proof of Absence.

-attributed to many sources

It's called 'The Disclosure Project'. Founded by Dr. Steven Greer who is also the group's primary organizer, cheerleader, and spokesman. In conjunction with the Center for the Study of Extraterrestrial Intelligence (which has a conveniently confusing acronym with SETI the former Search for Extraterrestrial Intelligence) the Project's goal in life is to force Congress to look at what the Project's Members say is all but irrefutable proof that - 'We Are Not Alone'.

So... who's up for a bit of debate?

Go back! We're already over-populated. If they have superior technology then that's just asking for a heap of trouble.

I bet they'd earn our trust and respect.. Then flip the script and enslave us all.

Well assuming that I am the first person to contact them, because if not than I wouldn't get a choice, I would likely tell them to get lost perhaps have someway of contact or a way for me to research upon them when I am bored with other things.

I'd try to welcome and accept them. Not sure how well it'd work out though. Communications bars many things...

to leave because as the human race we need to develop our own technologies and relying on alien devices, would crush the human nature we are developers not followers we advance on our own terms and we need to grow steadily not huge leaps because of aliens, going from automobile to U.F.O in to days (although they would be identified at that point0

Can't even imagine the situation would happen this way in the first place.

I'd ask them to leave, the planet can just about sustain the current population and adding beings that aren't from this planet wouldn't be good at all.

Welcome them, it would be cool, but there are not many jobs going so maybe we could put them in a cages and let people pay to see them...ooo thats the zoo

Of course there is always the chance that they've already been here, did this, and left us behind to prove it.

Back when the world was young (literally) the Sumerians believed that the gods had stopped by, and that their king, Gilgamesh, was two-thirds god and one third man. Which was a step down from the previous kingdom where the Akkadian kings were actually gods from the sky. Those that today are usually regarded as the Annunaki.

As a side note... the meaning of the name of the city of Babylon is gate of the gods.
