Most *chans promote web anonymity and give people a place to say whatever they want. There's no registration, and the only way you can let people know who you are is by using a tripcode, which will usually get you harassed if you're not using it for the sake of showing you're the OP. Imageboards are just message boards, but (most times) it's not possible to get caught up in any drama or the community aspect. Plus, the atmosphere is a lot lighter. While there are serious discussions you'll almost always get people trying to be funny.



So, in other words, it's a place to say whatever the fuck you want without worrying about it.
