Internet Explorer is sleeping with the fishes

Funny thing is, we still use it at work because it supports Java, so some Java-based apps won't even load on anything else, and their developers haven't updated them in a long, long time.

I get the whole if it isn’t broke dont Fix it but like come on? This isn’t the 90s lol. I never understood why companies refuse to update.

My whole country is stuck in the past, I'd say in the first half of the 90's, with some dinosaurs who haven't moved on past the 80's.

It's not the 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it' case. It's mainly the lack of money, and the fact the leadership is content with status quo, even doesn't mind going backwards every so often. One small step backwards for man, one giant leap backwards for the company.

They don't invest absolutely anything in the equipment purchase, but entirely rely on EU funding, preferring to go without a crucial piece of hardware and / or software until EU funds become available, then buy large quantities of the cheapest equipment they can find.

The concept of investing into professional software is beyond their grasp, but expect miracles from freeware crap you can find on the Internet.

That works against them, you spend more in fixing/replacing faulty equipment than you do if you bought a good one the first time.

Indeed. Company's mindset is the following: Buy as cheapest as possible, use it while it lasts, fix it for free if you can, trash it if not, wait for EU to provide resources and then buy cheapest crap you can find. Again.

I told you elsewhere it took 5 years for them to buy me a pen, and I had to submit special written request for one.

Various tools and equipment, like screwdrivers, pliers, web cameras, cable testers, etc.
Thats crazy. At my work if they don't provide me with the tools to do my job it wont get done. Thats their fault.

At my work, they don't provide me with the tools to do my job, but still demand results and keep telling me that if I don't like it, I am free to leave.

Tell them you're unable to do your job unless they provide you with everything you need. If they fire you then you can sue them for wrongful termination and get a phat settlement payout (in theory).
