The man himself entered to a thunderous pop holding a towel that said “The last time is now.” His t-shirt also read that after this we truly won’t be able to see him. It seemed clear what he was going to hint at, at least. And then he just came right out and said it. “Tonight, I announce my retirement from the WWE.”

He said he decided to reveal as much here because Canada always shows up, and all of them have built this into what it is today, which makes this the perfect place to say what he wants to say. But why now? Because it’s Money in the Bank, the ultimate symbol of opportunity. This is a farewell tour. He’ll be finishing up with WWE in 2025, working Royal Rumble, Elimination Chamber, and WrestleMania for the final time.

There are plenty of interesting matches for him to go out with, including with the likes of some young guys coming up or some old rivals who are still kicking around.

An emotional Cena said thank you to the fans before making his exit.

Love him or hate him, think he was over used or not, John Cena was one hell of an athlete and human being. He did so much for the children and brought so many smiles to faces. Sucks he's retiring, but he earned it. I hope he continues to do the St Juude's stuff, though.

As long as he's acting he'll probably continue the charity work.
