That's bad forum business. When in doubt, move the content to the staff area and put it up for discussion. That's what we do and then we all as a staff team come to one decision. When you have only one staff member acting like the one you are describing, there is no team and shame on that forum Admin for allowing this to happen.

I agree with you completely Jazzy. It should be a 'team' not a load of individuals acting

independantly of one another and causing all kinds of mayhem.



Trouble is though, I think many Admins leave too much up to the moderators to deal

with, so the mods do as they please.

You are exactly correct. If an Admin isn't going to be present on the forum and leave things up to mods, then they get what they deserve. I would never be an absent Admin due to this exact thing.

Well... pardon me while I defend that type of decision in certain situations.



If the content is blatantly illegal, such as something that meets the legal test of Obscene, or perhaps a Death Threat, an invitation to commit a crime, copyrighted content that has been stolen, and things like that.



But even then, the mod SHOULD state the reason openly and support their action with said rationale, NOT I felt that....



In this case, the content was NOT what they said it was, and they allowed no dispute, second opinion, or comment.



And when it comes down to it, it wasn't even all that important of a post except they appeared to simply be looking to piss me off.



It worked.

I agree with you Doc and it's happened to me before. Unfortunately for me, before I could ask for my account to be deleted, the mod decided to give me a permanent ban. All because the mod was power hungry and didn't like me to begin with. Why? Because I had the nerve to stick up for myself and ask the why me? question. Now a year or so later, they sent me an email asking me to please come back. It will be a cold day in hell before that ever happens! Same Admin, same mods and a dying forum. Why the hell would I want to go back there!

Which is exactly why that forum is failing!!! Power-hungry mods taking over and not discussing things with level-headed mods or admin and then wondering why the forum goes downhill. But as long as TS doesn't care about his site, then it's never going to work decently again!

I heard that TS sold the place. Who would want to buy a a dying weed forum is beyond me. I like the auto-member they are now using. Have you seen some of those new member names?

havnt visited there for about 6 months......havnt posted there for over a year!



knew it wasnt going to be a fun place when i got criticised for posting too many jokes.................and then got threatened with a warning if i dared to again post a cartoon which had a 10 year old coptright logo on it............'cos the owner dosnt want any c&d notices'

got tired of all the religeon and conspiracy bs too



if the place was a horse it would be shot to put it out of its misery

Keep fresh ideas. Listen to your members, a lot of times, they can suggest very good ideas.

I have been in forums where moderators are running around like they are power crazy freaks and its really off putting and people soon leave..I have a forum with staff but not one of them would throw weight around they are just staff to help and post .I was in a forum a few months ago where the admin was bullying people and a few she was bullying were disabled or ill ..Then she started on me !!!She spoke to me like i was about 2 years old..So i left ASAP..Not before i told her she was a evil bully. Everyone she was bullying has since left...People do not go on internet to be bullyied or pushed around You do need rules just simple plain decency ones and manners no need to throw books of rules at people..Some people seem to thrive on rules and regulations but its not a great atmosphere..If you meet up with someone you do not like online then stay away dont try to go after them i know its tempting as some people can really get on your pip online ..They are invisible and can do and say anything all you can do is switch off and stay away from anyone who is not very nice..

Sometimes when you run a forum if you get a upset between members then it causes a horrid atmosphere one bad Apple can turn the forum pear shaped..I had someone once who was a constant moaner and the others started answering her back then it blew up and all was quiet for a few days..It happens you just have to deal with it..

The most important thing is to have lot's of posts and topics they can post in; even if there aren't any topics of interest... new topics are always welcomed.
