Ever encounter people who are ALWAYS negative in all their posts?

Someone who always seems to suck the life out of the conversation?

How do you feel about these people?

I can be negative in some posts. Dont mean to be though, just what happens when you have depression :/

Yea...i know what you mean Rev.

Its okay till it starts to really get out of control and annoying.

^ Yea I don't make a habit of it.

For those that are annoying, I generally ignore there posts and move onto the next one

I know someone like this on another forum. She's got lots of issues with her kids and health and is constantly posting downer stuff. Makes you wonder if a little black cloud follows her around like in the cartoons......

I know a few people like that. I don't know why people are so negative all the time. Its not very healthy.

Yeah. On another forum that is allied with mine. He was a jerk 24/7 and had like 50 negative rep. One of my users suggested we invite him over, and I said.

Hey, yeah! That's a GREAT idea!! We can use him for moderator target practice!

there are some people like that, but when they see me they like to be nice(since i own the forum)

I'm very negative. Hopefully not in the bag everyone way but still I'm very depressing. Hehe. Worse thing is it's not always a bannable thing...they're annoying but you can't do anything about it.

I know people like this in real life too.. Everyone could be joking around and having a good time.. Then ole' negative nelly comes around and sucks the life out of the room and depresses everyone.

I know what you mean Nebulous. I've learned to not let anyone steal my joy. Yeah, sounds fruity, but is true. I have this kid in my class that always acts like what I say is stupid and tries to make me out to be the dumb one, but one day I snapped back. He told me to shut-up, and being the nice guy I am, I calmly looked him intensely in the eye for a minute straight, then told him in a calm voice, that if he knew what was best for him, be better turn around and mind his own business. He has not given me problems since.

Most of the time you can just ignore people who try to bring you down, but in some cases, you have to get them to back off.

But this isn't about real life, is it?

Nope.. Shame on us for talking about something else.

A person can only suck the enjoyment of something if you allow them too. If a person is being negative, then unless they are just flaming or attacking someone, leave them be. Keep the discussion flowing and if it gets out of hand then contact them privately about it, and if that doesn't seem to work, then you handle it as if you would any other troublesome user.

I have to admit, I'm quite on the negative side in alot of my posts, not necessarily mean, just, negative.

Way to quote 26 months later, Nebulous

I tend to just overlook them. If it begins to prevent the community to talk/communicate, that would be the time to intervene.
