Only idiots and the poor souls that have to rescue them would go out driving in a blizzard.

I never got why anyone would want to go out in that sort of weather.

Some people work late shifts and have to be out there. That's why Mayor Bloomberg was trying to get people to leave work early.

Damn.. it's just a shame that there wasn't a state of emergency issued, schools didn't close down early, people weren't encouraged to stay home and employers told by the mayor to let their workers off early..

Oh wait..

Sarcasm aside, after Irene, and Sandy's death toll, and the number of idiots who stayed despite the mandatory evacuations needing to be rescued, I've come to realize that there are some things that can't be avoided because some people are just that stupid. That said, theirs always going to be at least one idiot to go surfing during a hurricane, kite flying during a tornado, driving in a blizzard, etc., and there isn't enough warnings in the world to prevent this. Some people are just that stupid, and determined to earn a Darwin Award.

If I were in that mother's shoes, I would have stayed home and kept my kids home, and if I had to go to work, then I would have left early.. whether the boss ok'd it or not. If the mayor is warning people for their safety, and my boss wants to be a prick about it and demand I stay, just because they only care about the bottom line, then I am going to leave, and if they decide to fire me over it, they will definitely be hearing from my lawyer..

My husband is the lead tech at a very demanding financial firm who provides support for not only the firm, but also their global and domestic affiliates as well, and he was able to leave 2 hours early..
