I mean all things in life, do you prefer old tech, or new? Old partner or new? And etc, etc. I still love old school things, I'm very very old-fashioned and love collecting antiques from anywhere around the world. I have a huge collection of them and CD's, DVD's and old school gaming devices, my computer is a 10 years old Mac. My iPad is 4-5 years old : an iPad Air 2. Only my iPhone is a 12 mini, one of the models from last year.

Old vs New?

One thing I like about old technology is that you don’t have to set it up. It just works.
I got one of them new Android-powered smart tv sets. It took about 15 minutes just to set it up as a dumb receiver.
I don’t want it to listen to voice commands, turn itself off after four hours, show youtube videos, connect to other friends using this particular brand, set up email or messenger apps, send messages to facebook of what I’m watching right now, or any of the other two gazillion things it wanted to do.
I just want it to take whatever is sent in on HDMI port 1 and display it in all its 65″ 4K glory, and it took me 15 friggin’ minutes just to set it up to do that.
Stupid machine. Just do what I want!

Was curious because my Mom got The Victrola 8 in 1 turntable CD cassette player for her birthday last year. She just loves it. Not sure if it has a Bluetooth speaker as well.
Nice, welcome to the club. Just don’t get into the hobby for audio quality. That’s a really deep rabbit hole. You’ll end up spending hours of research on what pressing of what album is the best sounding one. Just make it simple and just grab your favorite albums.
Also, don’t listen to people who say don’t buy records from Walmart or Target. Apparently you’re “not allowed” to buy a record at those stores, you have to spend more money for the same exact pressing at a dedicated record store for that street cred.

It's nothing super special. Just stuff like my favorite albums that you can buy at a store. Something like Radiohead's Ok Computer is great.
An old dial up Bell telephone, these have been used to bludgeon people to death. These phones were so over engineered they lasted decades. If you’ve never held one in your hand you won’t understand just how heavy and well built they were.
