Japan's Mt Everest Bridge

Never mind coming down you would need a good engine to get up

Why would they build that? :p
"The mile-long bridge was built on the banks of Lake Nakaumi , connecting the cities of Matsue and Sakaiminato. If you’re wondering why it looks more like a roller coaster (or should I say, roader coaster) than a bridge, it’s because it was designed to be high enough to let ships pass underneath.
It has a gradient of 5.1 percent on the Tottori Prefecture side and 6.1 percent on the Shimane Prefecture side, making its slope look like the apex of a roller coaster."

Some of the older Mississippi River bridges in the SouthEast are/were designed to let (smaller?) ships pass underneath. I'm thinking maybe before "draw-bridges"; I've driven across one I think at Morgan City, LA.....it seemed terrible at the time but not nearly as bad at this one.

I get whey they made it tall enough for boats to go under by they could have made it with a less steep drive going up to that pont. :P

:dontknow: I just know that I'd rather drive around it than up that incline.....I think I'd have the sensation of falling over backward.

They could have started the onramp farther away with a lesser incline
....or they could have done a spiral design sort of like how a parking garage is shaped.
