Correct me if I am wrong but ALMOST everything you are paying for above is pretty much standard on most forums isnt it? The free version of the forum is SEVERELY limited and it makes me want to leave, not buy a paid membership..

....im a memeber of a forum (but not for much longer) thats similar to that



my 'home' on the net has most of that for free how ever you can make a donation every now and then if you want...........gets 'vip' tag to your name, a multi upload pic host (which is important to me) larger pm box and bigger avs (avs are important to me too)



i am happy to make the donation when i can as the place is my 'home', its given me immense pleasure over the years and its my way of giving something back to the owner

I'm considering adding a premium membership but it won't be as pointless as that. As Nebulous said most of the stuff there is stuff you get on most forums.

Same here. There are loads of forums out there where you can do the same sort of stuff, and even more, for FREE. I'm not paying $30 just to do custom crap to my profile that I can do free just about anywhere else. Waste of time and money.

My paid subscription ran out at a forum I frequent. Now all I see is ads everywhere. It's so bad that I can't even concentrate on posting. All you get is a message over and over to click to get rid of the ads. Of course when you click, it takes you to their paypal so you can become a paid member. Needless to say, I am done with that forum.

It's a huge forum but still doesn't give them the right to try and force a paid membership down your throat. Some of the old members are leaving once their subscription runs out.

I usually adblock everything using an ini file in Opera. I don't like being bugged by ads everywhere. As for paid subscriptions, forums are lucky enough if they keep my interest enough to have me as a member, pushing me to become a paid member is just too much. The only way I would ever donate was if a place didn't actually bug me about it. Like one dreaming forum I'm on. She's run the site for over a decade now and pays for everything out of pocket, though she has a donation thread. For someone like her I'll donate once I actually have money to donate. For the rest of these cons, though? Pfft.
