Have you ever been on any forums where they pay you to post on the forum? How much money did you earn? Did they actually pay you?

I’ve had a forum like this and I can honestly say it’s all fake. Many people post but there is honestly no real community building. It’s great for activity but there’s no soul in the board. So If you like people flooding your board, posting the same things over and over, no meaningful things or people who like the board for its community on its own, a paid to post forum is the way the go. It’s like going to a whore house. You get the love but know it’s all show and shine and fake as fuck. 😅

I have never been a member on a forum where they pay you directly for posting. The closest I have been has been on forums where they indirectly do it, by using their own forum currency. I have also been a staff member on two of them, Roliana and DGEmu. Roliana was a forum inspired by Gaiaonline, which allowed members to earn gold through activity and use it to customize their avatars. DGEmu was a site which offered a collection of roms to download. There was a point system where members got a limited number of points per day to download roms based on file size. They could earn more points by posting. Even with the indirect nature of the rewards for posting it negatively impacted the quality of the community. There was less apparent on Roliana. It was also less apparent on the Debate subforum of DGEmu as they let me rule that subforum and I was ruthless when it came to penalizing nonsense.  I was allowed to set standards for what was expected of posts and the development of arguments. I can only imagine that if it is about direct payment the community would be way more shallow.

Yep, pretty much this.

Thats exactly how they feel! I've lurked a couple and its just empty nothingness people are posting. You can tell nobody has ANY interest in what they're discussing. The conversations are very dry, flat and have no emotion, members have no connection with each other.

The closest I got to being paid to post was the Posting Team on FP :D

I don't join those paid to post forums for the exact reasons outlined above, I don't want to be a part of a community that lacks...community.

Yeah they don’t pay very much, lots of time & effort with little reward.

There were the few exceptions. Funnily enough one of my favourite members on DGEmu was one that I clashed with the most in debates. But he developed and explained the reasoning behind his stances so well. So even if I didn't agree with him. I respected him a lot. He was really hard to debate with though as he really did push me past my limits hahaha.

I think I tried this type of forum once and I don't recall ever getting a payout or possibly enough posts to get a payout.

I've never been on a paid to post forum. It's usually sub low quality content filled with individuals from third world countries who do not speak/write fluent english.

I love how you said it nicely but we both know what we really wanna say. 😂

It's basically a place you can go to make posts you don't care about to people you don't care about all on a forum you don't care about to get a small amount of money which is the only thing you actually care about. Oh and this is all done while being inundated with advertisements that you can't block because they won't let you on the site with an ad blocker enabled. IT is also required that you place almost no value on your time because anyone who even remotely values their time would see quickly that they get paid next to nothing when compared to the amount of time they invest into making that money.

Why such boards exist is becasue the idea looks like it would work in making an active community in theory but not so much in practice.

BZ is always the voice of reason!

I have been a member on a lot of forums that paid for posting. I started with a forum called Forum Coin. I don't know how much I earned but I was active for more than 3 years. I was also member of a forum post exchange sites called postloop and the forum Wheel. There was a time when I was earning about $180 per month by posting on forums available through these two post exchange sites

I also honestly feel like promotion forums and webmaster/admin forums suffer the same thing. I haven't felt a real sense of community on certain forums since returning to a few of these kinds of forums. Also yeah, totally forgot about Fergal.

I tried to sign on with a paid posting forum but they said that my writing skills needed work and turned me down.

I used to in the past, years ago. I never really made much from it.

I can make more freelance writing for a blog one time than I could trying to make a decent amount on one of those forums, at least back then.

Forum Promotion is kind of that, though. You posts for points which you use to buy promotional services.
