Should men get paternity leave (Maternity leave) from work? Why or why not?

I'd say they should, but much less than women get. They don't really have to worry about the baby while it's being born, but they still have to take care of it. I think that if men need to care for a baby and they don't get proper leave for it (not sure about all the forms of leave), then it's a bit sexist...(even if the idea of having a baby is too...)

It depends on how incapacitated the expectant mother is. If she cannot perform simple things or take care of herself late in the pregnancy then the dad should be able to take off more time from work (maybe get a doctors note or something). Plus he have ample time after the baby is born to take care of the child during the mother's recovery.

When my daughter was born I only took off two weeks after she was born because that’s all my work would let me have (used up all my vacation time).... I should have been able to take much more time off without being forced to take an unpaid leave of absense.

I'm pretty sure Europe has much more sensible laws concerning this. They tend to ♥ their workers.
