Yesterday I went to my gym to add my daughter on to my account. She had a 14 day guest pass to try out the gym with me. She enjoy's going as they have kids stuff like a daycare center (they call it the Kids Club) with slides, toys, video games, cartoons, art projects, etc.. They have a rockwall to climb on and a pool too. Anyway, I go in to add her onto my account which will make my monthly bill go up $10. The guy said I pay the $10 right then for the month and next month my new 2-person rate will be in effect. He does all the paper work and hands it over to me to sign and I see that it says there is a $25 processing fee + the $10. I asked him Whats this processing fee all about and he says Its for the paper work and employee time. I said Well thats a load of BS, you are paid to be here all day anyway, why should I give you $25 to fill out a paper? He said Thats our policy, if you dont want to add your daughter on then you dont have to. I ended up paying it because my daughter really likes going to the gym with her daddy. I feel like I got taken advantage of though. His time was not worth $25.. at all.

Did you have to pay a processing fee when you first joined? If not, I would contact the gym owner and get your $25 refunded.

They called it an enrollment fee when I joined. I suppose they charge a fee any time you want to make a change to your account. So, I wont be doing any more changes.

It's like when you get a letter from the bank and they charge you £10 for it but they don't pay you £10 when they screw up and you have to write to them to sort it out.

It's how the rich get richer and the poor get poorer! They all rip you off to take your money! Bastards!

Btw, it was sweet of you to do such a lovely thing for your daughter.

It was worth the processing fee then as I know how much your daughter loves the gym. It's very nice they have a separate fun section for children.

Fees are just a way to make more money off of you for doing absolutely nothing. They know you will always pay it no matter how much it bothers you hence why they charge fees for all sorts of things.

Yea BofA is a great example of charges. I have a $35 dollar over charge fee and then $25 dollars for every day my account is negative. As you can assume it adds up

Actually I did make a change on my account. I made it so I could go to ALL of their gyms instead of just one. BUT this time I called their Customer Service number and they did it for me. Its supposed to be an additional $5 a month but she gave it to me for $3 and no processing fee.

I bet if I tried to do it in the gym itself, they'd charge me another stupid processing fee.
