when you reply to a thread do you go by forum title or do you bother reading the whole thread and then reply? iv got a bad habit of just reading the forum title sometimes and going from there..

this may be a pointless topic but i was just wanting to know if anyone else was on the same boat as me

i mean the whole thread like all the posts...

I read the whole thread because sometimes a title may be misleading. If I don't understand the whole topic then I cannot reply in an educated way and make sense. This to me is especially important if I'm in a debate thread and I have to justify what my opinions are.

If you mean do I read back what was posted before I make a comment then the answer remains yes. Otherwise how would I know what I was posting isn't a duplicate of what another member posted?

Before I post, I need to know what's been said and where the thread is headed. I can't just look at a few posts in a thread to fully understand the reason why the OP started the thread to begin with. If this is not what you mean then I apologize.

I made your topic title more descriptive.

Anyways I read the 1st post and then I skim through the replies. Obviously if the thread is several pages long Im just going to read the 1st post and the replies on the last page.

I generally read the first page.

However I've often done this and replied. Then realised the topic is 20 pages long... ooopps

Always!

I love reading responses (Especially in debates and categories similar to that) even if it takes me a while to get through them all I'll do it before I ever reply to it. Don't want to miss anything either...

I prefer to read through the whole topic to get the jist on what the topic is about, then try to make and educated answer

I read the first page or how many post there is on that first page then I post what I saying because I don't want to post something that someone already said.

I tend to read the first post and all the replies. That is unless it's a popular thread or I already know what it's going to be about.

In my line of work I have to read the entire topic or I might miss something important.
