Do you recycle?

I personally don't, but we should.

We drink a lot of soda and have tons of cans and liter bottles we throw away, but I haven't been able to convince my parents that we should recycle.

I try to as much as I can.. If I cant make it and I want to get rid of it all, I give it to my neighbor.

We have recycle bins everywhere, makes it a lot easier. If not, I don't bother. But I don't purposely chuck my rubbish on the street like some people I know.

10 cents per bottle/can return, hell yes. As for other recyclable items, they go in the neighbor's recycling bin. lol

Hmm, I don't really recycle myself. Maybe I should start. But you know sometimes stuff happens, and you can't be perfect everytime.

That's a terrible way of looking at it. It's not like it requires any time or skill. All you need is a recycling bin, which are free IIRC.

We recycle for cash--soda bottles, copper, batteries--things like that.

we also do a lot of recycling around the house. Newspapers, cardboard, plastic and glass bottles.

I recycle newspapers and magazines. I saved a bunch of food cartons to take up too (I take em to a recycling centre thingy up the road), but then I found out that the place I take my paper to wont accept cardboard, just magazines and newspapers

The nearest place that does is like 3 miles away. Which kinda defeats the object really. How silly.

I use cardboard around the house--especially in the garden. Weed control.

But you might could take your cardboard to a grocery store. Around here all the stores break down their boxes and bale them up for a recycling center. You could ask--couldn't hurt.

We used to recycle when I lived in South Carolina, more to save money on pick-up service than anything else, but now we don't have anywhere to take our recyclables so we just throw it away.

I could use it in my garden! I totally need weed control, never thought of that!

I used to operate the baler when I worked at a store...

We put the broken down boxes into this big machine.. It was smash them flat.

Once it reached a certain point, we made the smashing arm come down and rest on the compressed boxes. Then we would slide wires under neath and loop them over the top and twist them up so they would stay in place. After words the arm would be released and it would eject the bale onto an empty pallet.

Sometimes people would be lazy and not put the full amount (six wires) on the bale and only put like 3 or 4. One time it was too much pressure and the wire snapped, and cut someone's arm pretty badly. (who happened to be standing in the vicinity).

It's perfect for that. Just make sure there is no grass showing between where you put the boxes down. Not saying that you still don't have to weed, but it does make things a lot easier.

I flatten boxes out and put it between tomato plants in the garden, then cover with grass clippings, etc.

I use them to get new flowerbeds ready. Then cover with dirt and mulch. It saves lots of time.

My garden is so bad that it broke the lawn mower, it's all uneven, so every little tip for controlling it helps!

I go to baseball fields with some tools and disassemble the bleachers so I can take in the parts for recycling money.

Nice.

I can't find any place that accepts cardboards to be recycled in Hilo, Hawaii. It's super annoying! Maybe I'm just not looking hard enough :/

The whole house that I live in recycles

The little money we get goes to some bills. Wheeee!

I do i have a green box for Cans, bottles, etc.. and a blue one for paper. I also have two ducks and two dogs that eat scraps of any food.

We have to recycle EVERYTHING here where I live. We have no garbage pickup so we have to take all the garbage to the recycling station. Regular household garbage is $3 per 13 gallon bag. The rest is free but you have to place these items in different containers at the station:

Newspaper

Cardboard

Glass Jars

Plastics (only ones with a number 2 on the bottom)

Metal - Tin cans

Tires, paint, and applicances you have to call a special number for pickup

Is it any wonder why I HATE garbage day
