Should we believe in Santa Claus?

If you're a kid, yes. I personally don't see a point of it, only if you want to make little kids believe it's alright to be fat.

I suppose it doesn't really matter, just don't over do it or it'll be too big a shock to hear it isn't true.

The real question is should parents lie to their own children about a person (character/mascot) to scare them into not being bad for compensation of receiving presents and such at the end of the year?

I doubt kids even notice Santa's weight or look at him and think that its ok to be fat just because he is. By that logic, we should get rid of all fat people in the world because children will see them and think its ok to be that way.

I think it's cute when kids get all exited about Santa Claus. I think it teaches children that being good can be rewarding.
