I'm not sure why on one, but the other had a close friend who died in a car accident and it was ruled the seat belt had caused the initial death. He claimed more harm came from wearing one than not. So he hasn't since...



My father doesn't wear one either, but pulls and holds it around him when he sees cop cars go by... It makes me sad.

I wear my seatbelt when i'm riding shotgun, because i'm accustomed to it. Plus, in my father's car this annoying beep goes off if it feels weight on the seat and belt isn't plugged in. If i'm in the back, i never do.

I've tried to tell him that...

I was in a car accident awhile back. A car hit ours at a dead stop and jolted us quite a ways. I had my seat belt on, but if I hadn't I'm fairly certain I would have flown through the window...

My stepbrother had a car accident last year. He wasn't wearing his belt. The car flipped 5 times and was absolutly flattened.

The fire crew said him not wearing his seatbelt actually saved his life. Otherwise he would have been decapitated.

While that's extremely lucky for your stepbrother, statistically the seatbelt saves lifes. A car accident where the car flips over 5 times is hardly a frequent one.
