Should the rich be taxed more?

Should the rich be taxed more? Should they pay the same as everyone else?

Good question. If I ever became rich I think I would be upset with them taking my hard earned money just because I happen to have more of it than other people. At the same time if I was rich, I'd be able to pay more taxes and still be perfectly fine.

Yes.

The rich pay the overwhelming amount of taxes for this country.

It needs to be a flat tax, get rid of the IRS and every American needs to contribute in taxes unlike the 50 percent of the population that pays no federal income right now.

No,

Why should people be taxed more just based on what they earn. “Rich” business people do earn a lot of money but they also have huge overheads and a lot of responsibility.

If we are going to raise or lower tax it should be for a everyone not just people with money.

Yes, the rich in America DO NOT pay their fair share of taxes.
I pay more (percentage-wise) than anyone on the American Forbes billionaire list.

Yes, I absolutely agree with the notion that the rich should be taxed more. This applies to tax brackets, areas of income actually taxed and the closing of loopholes.

I’ll strongly disagree, but haven’t heard what a definition for rich is? If you make million a year and 60% goes to paying employees and overhead is that rich. The word gets thrown around to get people riled up but no standard.

Loopholes what people call them is actually real legal laws set in place?

A set flat tax that can’t be changed with everyone contributing to society would benefit the people far more. It puts less of a burden on people and it limits the power of government to waste your money.

In this case, I define the "rich" as a net worth that exceeds 100 million dollars.
Someone with a million dollars is functionally upper-middle-class.
Tens of millions could potentially be considered rich as well, but it truly depends on how you look at it and where they live.
Similarly, a million dollars in some areas are well off, while it is barely middle-class in others.

Not to mention the more you make, the more taxes they take out of it.

Depends on where you live. If you had a million dollars in certain parts of the country where the cost of living is very low, a million dollars would make you very rich.

That's so even in uncertain parts. :D
