Start menu. After bringing back the Start button in Windows 8.1, Microsoft will take the next logical step in the next Windows version and make the Start menu available as an option. It's possible this will appear only on those product versions that support the desktop.

Only this guy apparently has "sources", but the internet is full of rumours since a couple of days. Apparently microsoft wants to reintroduce the start menu we've all come to know for years in 2015.

You know what baffles me more than the fact that they thought the new tile screen was better? The fact that they need a year to reimplement something they had been using for over 15 years...

GJ microsoft, you have renewed my faith in you.

Its not a real start menu, its just a button that takes you to the start screen.

I know very well the start button is back. I have version 8.1.

This topic however, is about a future update reintroducing the actual menu on desktop versions...

The new title screen was not made for desktop's and non-touchscreen interfaces, something that is a huge pain in the ass to most devices. It was an OS designed for tablets that was poorly implemented to other devices because they wanted to "be innovative"... for whatever reason.

Why any company would spend so much time and energy making a totally new OS for the sake of change away from something that not only worked very well, but no one really complained about, is something that I'll never understand. It just goes to show you what being successful does to a company- apparently makes them a hell of a lot dumber.

+1

Very well said.

Personally I now use the Classic Shell software to bring back the windows 7 start menu. I now essentially have a windows 7+ because I can ignore the ridiculous changes in windows 8 for the most part.

Oh I was talking about MY recent Windows update. I do have a program called Classic Shell that recreates the old start menu and it looks / acts just the same :P

Haha you're on the late side updating to 8.1. I use classic shell as well, nevertheless it's a bit ridiculous half the world is installing third party software to fix microsoft's stupidity.

Yeah that does seem stupid but at least we have options! I have another program that skips the start screen and goes straight to the desktop on start up. It also makes those things go away that pop up when you mouse over to the corners

You realise classic shell also does all that right? Just gotta configure it in options. :P
