Here's something I didn't see here. Did a quick search, and it's not here. Stem cell research.

What are your opinions on it? As a cure to disease? To clone animals? To clone humans?

Debate and discuss!

**Just a note- This is a science related debate. If this gets into a religion debate, I will be forced to delete this thread. I trust that we're all responsible enough for this thread.

I'm all for it!

Its not like they are killing anyone or hurting anyone to obtain the cells.

My thought exactly. If it can be used, like studies are now proving, that it can be used to cure cancer, why wouldn't we use it?

ok, one question: what is stem cell research? cause I know I don't know what it is, and I'm probly not the only one thinking this question.

It's using a human embryo before it is too far developed to cure diseases.

Here's a great article:

Hope this helps you all.

I'm not going to argue this, but I'm going to say that using a young embryo for scientific research and whether or not that's hurting a human is a matter of opinion. That's why there's a debate about it at all. Not everyone agrees that it's not hurting anyone, so it's better to go into the reasons why or why not you believe it is or isn't hurting anyone, since that's the main point of contention anyway whenever the subject is brought up.

I am all for it. I only see it as another advancement in science... and I'm all for advancements in science, too.

Now it seems that there aren't any pro-lifers here in this topic but I just wanted to point out that the countries that have a primarily Judeo-Christian religion generally have more restrictions on embryonic stem cell research than those that have another primary religion such as Buddhism or Hinduism. What does that say? That the problem with stem cell research is simply religious, not anything else. I support embryonic stem cell research fully.

Yeah, that pretty much is the only other side of this debate. Religion. And with a rule stating religion debates are against forum rules, it makes it really hard to debate.

It's just like the whole blood transfusions. Do you let a person die because it's against their Religion?

There just has to be a line where we say science infringes on the rights of religion. I don't want to get in a religious argument, but I don't feel this does. Science is there to better our society. And anything that has a chance of curing disease, saving millions is worth a chance.
